ACRO/GYMNASTICS: Tumbling and passes, incorporated with dance technique and choreography.
BALLET: Consisting of ballet technique, including classical steps and movements.
CHARACTER: Portraying an easily recognizable character.
CONTEMPORARY: Routine consisting of movements with classical foundation of contemporary technique.
HIP HOP: Dance Movements of street, funk, and or break dance.
JAZZ: Classical jazz techniques and movements.
LYRICAL: The use of balance, flexibility, control and fluidity, interpreting/feeling lyrics of song.
MODERN: Interpretive dance, using modern contemporary style, incorporated with balance, control and extensive movements.
MUSICAL THEATRE: Use of Broadway or movie musical songs, portraying lyrics through dance and character.
OPEN: Combines two or more subjects or is not defined in any one subject.
POINTE: Pointe technique but not limited to classical steps and movements. Pointe shoes necessary.
SONG & DANCE: Routine consisting of 50% vocal, 50% dance. No lip syncing allowed.
TAP: Demonstrating tap techniques. No pre-recorded tap sounds allowed in the music.
DANCE TEAMS (CHEER): Adjudication/critique only. No routine will be eligible for any High Score Awards.
Please note… There is no “ACRO” allowed in Ballet or Pointe. A maximum of 3 Tricks are allowed in Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical and Tap. All other Subjects may include unlimited Tricks.
